What The Polar Vortex Is And Why It's Happening Now
We don’t have to tell you its cold outside. It’s enough to make even hearty New Englanders wince and whimper. And now we’re learning a curious new term to explain the extreme freeze.
It’s not a cold snap or arctic air or a frigid spell. What we’re feeling is a polar vortex. Sounds pretty ominous, right? Almost like science fiction. But turns out it’s a very real thing.
