Teaching Children To Play Nice And Prioritize Kindness

When Harvard researchers asked thousands of teens nationwide what they thought their parents valued, 80 percent said success and personal happiness, while only 20 percent said caring for others. Researchers say this “me first” sensibility sets the stage for everything from cheating to bullying. 

In part two of our Focus on “parenting against the grain,” WGBH News reporter Stephanie Leydon looks at one local town that’s encouraging kids to put other people first.
