School Lunch from Scratch
By Kara Miller
Over the last 50 years the number of American children who are overweight and obese has tripled, with about 30 percent of kids now falling into one of those categories.
So how do you tackle the problem? The key may lie in programs like the Chef Initiative, now spreading across Massachusetts — an experiment that figured: if you can change what kids eat in school, you might be able to change everything.
Guests:
Juliana Cohen, research fellow at Harvard School of Public Health
Ellen Parker, executive director at Project Bread
Chef Kirk Conrad, Project Bread’s chef in residence
