Redevelopment in Boston: Downtown Crossing and the Seaport

Filene's Basement construction hole, development, pit, Downtown Crossing
Credit Aaron Knox
Filene's Basement was demolished four years ago, but development has stalled since the recession.

There are two parts of Boston that are undergoing major changes. We have Downtown Crossing with its huge hole in the ground where Filene’s used to be, and we have the Seaport District that’s come to life with restaurants and shops. Both are growing — with help from City Hall — but at different paces.

Guests:
Anthony Flint, journalist and fellow at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy
Thomas Grillo, real estate editor for the Boston Business Journal
