Parsing the July Jobs Report with Marketplace
July's job report cited an additional 163,000 new jobs, but unemployment also increased one-tenth of a point to 8.3 percent.
Reactions are mixed. While some economists are saying that these numbers indicate a gradual strengthening of the economy, others are concerned that we simply aren't creating enough jobs to make a dent in unemployment.
At the same time, President Obama and presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney are spinning the numbers in both directions.
Jeremy Hobson, host of Marketplace Morning Report, joins us to parse the numbers.
