Meet the Man Running Against Lawrence Mayor William Lantigua
The gateway city of Lawrence, Mass. has gotten a lot of negative attention over the years.
As one of the state’s poorest cities with high unemployment and an even higher dropout rate, it's image has been further tarnished by a mayor who seems to have been embroiled in controversy since day one.
This year, Lawrence Mayor William Lantigua, who is the target of federal and state investigation for corruption and has been sued by the state for failing to file a 2011 campaign finance report, is up for reelection. Boston Public Radio's Callie Crossley sat down with one of the candidates who has decided to run against him: Lawrence City Councilor Daniel Rivera.
