While we eagerly await the Red Sox return to Fenway for Game 6, you might be surprised by how little influence the World Series has over Boston's bottom line.
Hometown sox games brings in $5.6 million to $6.3 million in revenue per game, according to the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau. Even more, according to the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce-which estimates $9 to $10 million. But where does that money go, other than Fenway?
Victor Matheson, an economics professor at College of the Holy Cross, and Jon Chesto, the manager editor of Boston Business Journal, joined Greater Boston to break down the numbers and explain how you measure the economic impact of a championship series.
