Efforts Continue to Restore Power
Utility crews are working around the clock to restore power. NStar is hoping to fully restore power by Thursday night, Nov. 1. National Grid says most of its customers should be back online by Friday night.
Gov. Deval Patrick says the state is fortunate it didn't take a harder hit from "superstorm" Sandy. He's been in touch with officials in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey to see what Massachusetts can do to help them.
There's no date for the resumption of Amtrak service between New York and Boston. Amtrak says the amount of water in tunnels under the New York City rivers is unprecedented — preventing service to New York. Downeaster service between Boston and Portland, Me., is resuming today.
