Should pregnant women drink alcohol?

It's a question reporter Alyssa Giacobbe wrote about for Boston Magazine and discussed with Boston Public Radio. Giacobbe writes that more expectant mothers are making the decision to have an occasional drink during pregnancy. The trend not only raises questions about the impact drinking could have on an unborn child, but also the ways we expect women to govern their bodies during pregnancy. Should we minimize the guilt women feel for the choices they may make during their pregnancy? Or, is something like the occasional drink an indication of a self-absorbed generation?
