Taped by WGBH Forum Network, researcher danah boyd visited Harvard Book Store to discuss her book It's Complicated: The Social Lives Of Networked Teens.

boyd explains the culmination of her ten years of research, studying data from social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook as well as performing ethnographies and interviewing teens from across the United States.  She shares that social media came at a crucial time when society was pushing teens into high levels of surveillance by their parents and it acted as a free space to hang out with friends.
