'Chesapeake' Takes on Question: What is Art?
What is art?
It's an age-old question that has no end of answers. Some people might take a page out of Justice Stewart's playbook, saying they know art when they see it.
Academics may argue that art is everything from the manifestation of God to the external representation of emotions. Talk to an artist and your might hear that art is about taking risks or expressing individualism.
These are big questions that playwright Lee Blessing takes on in his solo comedy, Chesapeake, which is currently staged at the New Repertory Theater through Dec. 16. On Boston Public Radio, WGBH's Jared Bowen spoke with actor Georgia Lyman and New Rep's artistic director, Jim Petosa, about the play.
