The BPR podcast for 12/6/13.

Jim Braude and Margery Eagan talked with Mass. Chief Justice Margaret Marshall, former Boston Mayor Ray Flynn, the Rev. Eugene F. Rivers III, WGBH's Phillip Martin, and high school history teacher Dennis Wilson about the late South African President, Nelson Mandela.

The guests  remembered a man who led the fight against racial oppression in South Africa, and whose lessons have great significance now that he's passed on. "I remember the tears just flowing down my cheeks," Margaret Marshall said of meeting Mandela. "It was an extraordinary experience ... I was almost speechless."

Also on BPR:

  • Emily Rooney talked about Mandela's visit to Boston only four months. Emily also offered another edition of Emily's List, complete with observations from the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • Chris Tabb and Corey Manning were the contestants on the Friday News Quiz. Tabb and Manning are a comedy duo, and they met for the second time on the Quiz.
