The Best New Music of January 2013
Before saying goodbye to January 2013 here on BPR, we decided to say hello to "new music Thursday." Boston Globe pop music and TV critic Sarah Rodman stopped by with some recommendations for albums that dropped this month. Yes, as it turns out, they still produce and release full albums. Scores of them. Every single month. Who knew?
Here are Sarah's picks:
- Solange, True (EP)
- Randy Houser, How Country Feels
- Adam Ant, Adam Ant Is the Blue Black Hussar In Marrying The Gunner's Daughter
- Justin Timberlake, Suit and Tie (single)
- Aaron Neville, My True Story
- Dropkick Murphys, Signed and Sealed in Blood
- Trixie Whitley, Fourth Corner
- Kris Kristofferson, Feeling Mortal
A few favorites from yours truly:
- Foxygen, We are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic
- Yo La Tengo, Fade
- Guided By Voices, Down by the Racetrack (EP)
- Widowspeak, Almanac
- Local Natives, Hummingbird
And some recs from around the WGBH Newsroom:
- Producer Will Roseliep says don't miss LONG.LIVE.A$AP, the debut full-legth from A$AP Rocky
- Reporter Anne Mostue wants you to listen to Erin McKeown's latest, Manifestra
Finally, before you go, dig this (for real)!
