Boston Mayor Tom Menino broke his 6-week silence on Thursday and met with a few reporters at Spaulding Rehab Center on Nashua Street. The Mayor taped a greeting to viewers of Channel 5’s Christmas Tree Lighting program to air tonight at 7:30pm. Also allowed into the taping were reporters from both the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald.

However, photos and video of the mayor are embargoed until after Channel 5 airs the greeting on Thursday night — then those pictures will be made available to other news outlets. No word yet on how Mayor Menino looked or sounded, but we will know in a few short hours.
